“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”
— James Baldwin
Hi, I’m Zan.
With a career spanning college counseling, trauma centers, perinatal and postpartum care, and private practice, I cultivate a therapeutic space where clients with diverse presenting concerns and backgrounds can feel comfortable.
As a clinician, I provide a presence that is attuned, grounded, and deeply compassionate. I believe that by bringing my own humanity and vulnerability into the room alongside my clinical expertise, I create a space where you can feel truly connected, seen, and supported - essential ingredients for growth.
My practice is rooted in psychodynamic, trauma-sensitive, relational and attachment-based theory. I recognize the sometimes subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) ways our past experiences shape our relationships and daily lives. By weaving together neuroscience with somatic awareness, mindfulness and relational insights, I offer a holistic framework designed to help you move toward lasting, integrated healing.
From the field to the therapy room.
My path to becoming a therapist began at Georgetown University. As a student-athlete and team captain, I became fascinated by the relational dynamics and pressures that exist beneath the surface of high-level performance. I learned early on that whether on the field or in life, we thrive when we are seen, understood, and supported.
While earning my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, I served at Penn’s Counseling and Psychological Center. There, I helped students navigate the intersection of identity, high-stakes academic pressure, and mental health.
Clinical depth & lived experience.
My clinical foundation was further shaped as a psychotherapist in New York City’s trauma centers. Supporting survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, and complex trauma taught me the profound resilience of the human spirit and the importance of a safe, attuned therapeutic relationship.
Subsequently I transitioned into private group practice which allowed me to work deeply and long-term with a diverse range of individuals, refining my ability to tailor psychodynamic and evidence-based interventions to the unique nuances of each client’s life.
Today, my practice is informed by both advanced training and my own humanity. I am certified in Perinatal and Postpartum Mental Health as well as Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for relationships. These specializations, coupled with my lived experience as a partner and a mother, allow me to walk alongside individuals as they navigate the transformative, and often difficult, transitions of parenthood and partnership.
Whether you are an athlete facing the end of a career, a new parent finding your footing, or someone healing from the past, I provide a space that is as clinically rigorous as it is deeply human.
My approach.
My approach to the work is rooted in a deep belief that you must be known as a whole person with many unique parts, not as a manualized protocol. Our work operates under the assumption that our earliest attachments and life experiences deeply influence how we show up in our lives today. Together, we will honor the many parts of you and your story, exploring the influential moments and emotional patterns that shape your life. With a collaborative approach we’ll identify what truly serves you and gently release what doesn't. Utilizing an integrative approach I am better able to support a healing journey that is unique to you and your needs.
Working with me.
My fee is competitive for mid-market private practice in the New York/New Jersey area. I believe quality mental health care should be accessible and I price my services accordingly.
I am currently paneled with Princeton University Student Health Insurance, which means Princeton students pay $10 per session, removing one of the most significant barriers to care for this population.
